Big Tees Brown Trout Confirmed by Skull Find

A striking find on the banks of the River Tees has confirmed what many local anglers have long suspected – there are some truly monstrous wild brown trout in these waters.

This skull, discovered upstream of Cotherstone, measures over 5 inches in length and once belonged to a powerful, mature fish. The pronounced teeth and jaw structure point to a top predator that likely lived for several seasons in the deeper pools of the Tees.

Finds like this highlight the health of the river and the real potential for catching specimen wild trout. They’re rare, but they’re there – waiting for the right fly and a little bit of luck.
